Según el estudio, el tráfico aéreo al interior de América del Norte de acuerdo a las Ganancias en Kilómetro por Pasajero, se recuperaría a mediados del 2023. Los viajes de América del Norte a Asia podrían tardar en recuperarse hasta el 2025 al igual que los recorridos entre Europa – América del Norte y Asia – Europa. Los trayectos que tardarán menos tiempo en recuperarse serán aquellos que se den al interior de Asia y Europa. En el caso de América Latina, se espera que su recuperación sea parecida a aquella con trayectos internos en Asia. Lo anterior se debe a que, según la Guía Oficial de Aviación (OAG), para la segunda semana de noviembre, el número de vuelos reservados en América Latina era de -46.3% que en el mismo periodo de 2019, ocupando el segundo lugar, después de Asia con un porcentaje negativo del -31%.
Para los países miembros del G-20 se pronostica que el porcentaje de pasajeros sea similar entre la mayoría de estos, dado que tan solo tres países estarán por debajo de una recuperación del 50% a comparación del porcentaje del 2019 y la mayoría de ellos se recuperarán entre el 60 y el 80 por ciento para Julio del 2021 .
Aunque para Colombia no se sabe con exactitud el año en el que podrá volver a tener números semejantes a aquellos antes de la pandemia, el 2020 fue un año devastador para sus aerolíneas. Según el presidente de Latam Airlines para Colombia, Santiago Álvarez, la aerolínea alcanzó tan solo el 47% del número de vuelos del año anterior y representantes de la aerolínea Wingo, indicaron que redujeron aún más sus costos para lograr sobrepasar la crisis.
