Mientras que en 2020, 64 vehículos obtuvieron buena calificación en seguridad otorgada por el ente estadounidense, en 2021 la cifra aumentó a 90 referencias. De ellas, 49 lograron la máxima valoración “Top Safety Pick +”.
Como ocurre anualmente, el Instituto de Seguros para la Seguridad en las Carreteras de Estados Unidos -IIHS- informó cuáles son los carros más seguros de este año, partiendo de las pruebas que realiza a seguridad de los carros que se venden en el país norteamericano. Clasificaron 90 modelos, un importante aumento frente al año pasado cuando solo destacaron 64.
De ese total, 41 vehículos tuvieron la calificación “Top Safety Pick” que reconoce el buen desempeño en pruebas de choque frontal y lateral, así como la prevención de choques de vehículo a vehículo o de vehículo a peatón. También se analiza la calidad de los faros, que deben considerarse como aceptables o buenos.
Muchos de ellos se venden en Colombia. Entre los más relevantes se anotan Honda Civic, Kia Cerato, Nissan Sentra, Ford Edge, Toyota RAV4, Toyota Corolla, Audi A4, BMW Serie 3, Chevrolet Equinox y Ford Escape.
