Hoy 47 municipios hacen parte del Paisaje Cultural Cafetror (pcc), inscritos en el Patrimonio de la Humanidad de la Unesco.
De acuerdo con el ministerio de Comercio, Industria y Turismo, con los ocho parques temáticos que tiene el Eje Cafetero se viene desarrollando una estrategia para potencializar la región en materia turística.
“Lo primero que se hará es poner de frente todo eso que tiene la región, mostrándolo a nivel nacional e internacional. También se va a resaltar dónde están los restaurantes, hoteles y demás y unir todos los puntos en un solo mapa”, explicó la ministra, María Claudia Lacouture,
Esta zona fue escogida porque se ha logrado trabajar como región en los tres departamentos que la componen. Además, su mayoría (47 municipios) hace parte del denominado Paisaje Cultural Cafetero (PCC), inscrito en la lista de Patrimonio de la Humanidad en 2011. Este selecto listado ya cuenta con 1.052 sitios en 165 países.
A esto también se sumó el terreno que abonó el proyecto de Rutas del Paisaje Cultural Cafetero, impulsado por la Cámara de Comercio de Armenia, que ofrece servicios innovadores en el turismo a través de las nuevas tecnologías, y que incluso en 2014 logró ser uno de los tres finalistas en la categoría Innovación en las empresas de los premios Ulises a la Excelencia y la Innovación en el turismo de la Organización Mundial del Turismo (OMT).
El proyecto está en marcha desde hace cinco años, y aunque inicialmente buscó impulsar las empresas turísticas del Quindío, después logró articular a la región mediante alianzas con el Ministerio de Comercio, Industria y Turismo; Procolombia, el Fondo Nacional de Turismo (Fontur), la Federación Nacional de Cafeteros, cuatro gobernaciones departamentales de Caldas, Quindío, Risaralda y Valle del Cauca; cámaras de comercio, gremios y demás para consolidar un producto turístico alrededor del paisaje.
