Según lo establecido en el documento de la Organización de Aviación Civil Internacional, es responsabilidad de las autoridades de cada aeropuerto establecer planes y procedimientos de emergencia en coordinación con autoridades y organismos de rescate de la ciudad, para atender posibles accidentes aéreos de gran magnitud, por esta razón se llevó acabo el simulacro en las instalaciones de la pista del Aeropuerto Internacional Matecaña.
Con la participación de 90 actores, las autoridades del aeropuerto construyeron 5 escenarios del siniestro, el del accidente de la aeronave en la que resultaron 10 personas fallecidas, 10 ilesas y 20 lesionados, el escenario para la llegada de bomberos, ambulancias y organismos de socorrol, la sala de atención a familiares de las victimas , sala de atención a prensa y medios de comunicación y la sala de COE (Centro de Operaciones de Emergencia), espacios que hacen parte del protocolo de atención a este tipo de siniestros.
El gerente del aeropuerto Matecaña, Francisco Valencia resaltó el éxito del simulacro.
“Para la terminal y para las autoridades de la ciudad es fundamental estructurar y participar en este tipo de actividades, que le brindan confianza y seguridad a los más de 6.000 mil usuarios diarios que transitan por el aeródromo”.
