La Región Administrativa y de Planificación, RAP Eje Cafetero, conformada por los departamentos de Caldas, Risaralda, Quindío y Tolima, una entidad de origen constitucional, descentralizada de carácter público, de orden territorial y de naturaleza asociativa, la cual cuenta con personería jurídica y patrimonio propio, como lo establecen los artículos 306 y 307 de la Constitución Política de Colombia, ha logrado entre otras gestiones, internacionalizar y promocionar la producción de la región, especialmente, en sectores como los cafés especiales y cítricos.
“Estamos muy enfocados en fortalecer el sector agrícola y dinamizarlo con una vocación exportadora, así mismo, estamos trabajando en la promoción turística, la logística, ciencia, tecnología e innovación del territorio. Acciones, que se vienen cumpliendo a través del desarrollo de proyectos focalizados, como lo son la participación de 40 muestras de cafés especiales en la feria más importante del mundo, la cual se realizó en Boston; Eje Bike, un circuito turístico que conecta a los cuatro departamentos y promociona sus oferta y atributos y, la construcción del Plan Regional de Gestión del Riesgo de Desastres, considerado por la Unidad Nacional de Gestión del Riesgo de Desastres, UNGRD, como piloto nacional”, señaló, Luis Guillermo Agudelo Ramírez, gerente de la RAP Eje Cafetero, durante su intervención en la Asamblea Departamental del Quindío.
Así mismo el gerente de la entidad, dio a conocer ante los honorables diputados los avances que ha tenido la RAP con el apoyo de los cuatro gobernadores, en relación a la gestión de recursos y obras de impacto regional, que se evidencian en la inversión de más de $ 61.000 millones en el corredor férreo del Eje Cafetero, lo que permitirá su acondicionamiento para actividades y atractivos turísticos; el Hospital de alta complejidad, que en tres meses estaría iniciando su construcción en el municipio de Cerritos – Risaralda y, el proyecto que busca la declaratoria por parte de la Unesco, del geoparque volcán del Ruiz, como primero del país en esta categoría.
“La RAP es una herramienta constitucional que se requiere en la región, Caldas, Risaralda, Quindío y Tolima necesitan urgentemente sentarse con el nuevo gobierno para darle más herramientas, empoderamiento, financiación y bondades a la entidad. Es claro que faltan cosas, pero debemos seguir potencializando, financiando y prestando atención al tema de la RAP, ya que es la institución que le va a dar identidad a los diferentes territorios para potencializar su economía. Antes no percibíamos las bondades que tenemos como región, información que hoy se tiene gracias al ejercicio adelantado por la entidad”, indicó Rodrigo Alberto Castrillón, diputado del Quindío.
Durante la sesión ordinaria en la Asamblea del Quindío, desde la gerencia de la RAP Eje Cafetero, se dio a conocer además, la inversión de $3.300 millones por parte de Autopistas del Café en la iluminación de tres puntos diferentes: en el Quindío toda la rotonda para el ingreso al municipio de Salento, el puente Helicoidal, en Risaralda y el acceso a Chinchiná, en Caldas. Así mismo, las gestiones que se adelanta ante el gobierno nacional con miras a la inclusión de varios proyectos de orden regional en el Plan de Desarrollo que formule el presidente electo, Gustavo Petro, de tal forma, que las regiones tengan autonomía administrativa y fiscal para la ejecución de las iniciativas priorizadas.
