El ministro Ocampo afirmó que que este grupo de alimentos solo representa el 3 % de la canasta familiar.
En medio de la gira regional que adelanta el Gobierno para escuchar las inquietudes de gremios y empresarios frente a la reforma tributaria, el ministro de Hacienda, José Antonio Ocampo, señaló que la iniciativa contempla ajustes en la parte del impuesto a los alimentos ultraprocesados, para no afectar a los pequeños negocios.
Según dijo el Ministro al término de su encuentro con empresarios en Cali, en este caso específico: “vamos a proponer una excepción para que pequeños negocios no tengan que pagar esos impuestos. Por ejemplo, para que las panaderías pequeñas no tengan que pagarlo, que sea para empresas de mayor tamaño o importadores de esos productos”.
Así mismo señaló que “hemos simplificado un poco la propuesta que vamos a presentar sobre alimentos ultraprocesados; que se imponga a algunos que cumplen ciertos requisitos en materia de azúcar, sodio”.
Cabe mencionar que hace algunas semanas el ministro Ocampo afirmó que que este grupo de alimentos solo representa el 3 % de la canasta familiar.
“La estimación es que lo que está incluido en los artículos de alimentos ultraprocesados y bebidas azucaradas representa solamente el 3 % de la canasta familiar, se ha hecho mucho más ruido del impacto que tiene“, dijo Ocampo.
El jefe de las finanzas públicas también señaló que los sectores asociados a la salud pública dicen que el impuesto debería ser incluso más alto para que tenga realmente efectos en la salud. “Este es un tema complejo que traeremos al debate”.
Según el texto de la reforma tributaria radicado el pasado 8 de agosto, la tarifa del impuesto nacional al consumo para productos comestibles ultraprocesados y con alto contenido de azúcares añadidos será del 10 %.
En ese orden de ideas, los productos que pagarían este impuesto son: las papas fritas, patacones, chicharrones y en general todos los alimentos en paquete con alto contenido en sodio.
