Con el desarrollo de las diversas plataformas digitales, en la actualidad, Colombia se está consolidando como un exquisito destino turístico.
Debido al levantamiento de las diversas restricciones impuestas por la pandemia del COVID-19 , se generó un aumento en el turismo nacional, pues las personas, que se vieron obligadas a estar encerradas por casi dos años, aprovecharon el crecimiento de las plataformas digitales para visitar diferentes destinos, enriqueciéndose culturalmente y aportando a la economía del país .
Por esto mismo, con el regreso de los viajes, el comportamiento de los turistas, tanto locales como internacionales, ha ido cambiando, pues la mayoría de estos buscan descentralizar el turismo en el país, abriéndole la puerta a diferentes municipios; por esto, los viajeros optan por plataformas como Airbnb para diversificar los destinos, llegando a lugares distintos a aquellos que suelen ser más concurridos.
De esta manera se ha evidenciado un crecimiento en el país de esta plataforma digital dedicada a la oferta de alojamientos, llegando a aportar de manera significativa a la economía de Colombia en un momento en el que el turismo se alza como uno de los principales pilares para el desarrollo y el progreso de las regiones.
Según un estudio realizado por Oxford Economics, líder en pronósticos económicos globales y análisis econométrico, sobre el impacto económico de la plataforma Airbnb en Colombia, en el 2021, el impacto directo del gasto que hicieron en el país los huéspedes que reservaron sus estancias a través de la compañía, fue de USD$899 millones, lo que equivale al 14,7 % de la actividad turística colombiana.
Este dinero respaldó directamente USD$554 millones del PIB, contribuyendo a la generación de 64.000 empleos en el país y ayudando a generar USD$274 millones de sueldos, salarios y otros ingresos.
Según los pronósticos más recientes de Oxford Economics, se anticipa que para el 2025 en Colombia el gasto de los visitantes en el sector turístico superará los USD$11.000 millones, a medida de que el país se vaya rehaciendo debido a los impactos que dejó la pandemia.
