Gracias a sus experimentos, Ronald García logró dos de los más grandes reconocimientos en el mundo.
El joven colombiano ha realizado distintas investigaciones en el Laboratorio de Moléculas y Átomos Exóticos del Instituto Tecnológico de Massachusetts, en Estados Unidos, y está abriendo un camino para resolver algunos de los interrogantes fundamentales sobre el universo y nuestra existencia.
Actualmente, García, desarrolla labores como docente en la institución norteamericana y ha obtenido el premio a un joven científico en física nuclear, otorgado por la Unión Internacional de Física Pura y Aplicada (IUPAP), y adicional ganó el Premio Stuart Jay Freedman 2022 en Física Nuclear Experimental, otorgado por la Sociedad Estadounidense de Física (APS, por su sigla en inglés).
Ronald García nació en Fresno, un municipio a unos 130 kilómetros de Ibagué, la capital de Tolima. Después de terminar su bachillerato se mudó a Bogotá para estudiar física en la Universidad Nacional, donde se encontró con un grupo de investigación que el profesor Fernando Cristancho había creado en 1996, y decidió ingresar.
El maestro Cristancho, cuenta con una larga lista de científicos y especialistas, que han pasado por sus clases, talleres y laboratorios, pero entre todos, afirma, que a Ronald lo recuerda por su constancia e intensidad, debido a que cuando entendía un problema, se apasionaba intensamente. Lo cual ha llevado a definir que en los momentos en que un físico se apasiona por contestar una pregunta y, además, tiene capacidad de trabajo, siempre va a tener un resultado exitoso.
Con estos reconocimientos, se convierte en el primer colombiano en ser reconocido doblemente con las condecoraciones. El físico, cuenta con un gran equipo con el cual desarrolla distintos proyectos que cuentan con gran utilidad para el desarrollo de la ciencia.
El colombiano, afirma que alcanzar un punto de resultados como los que ha obtenido en sus experimentos implica cruzar una frontera de conocimiento que aún no ha sido explorada en el pasado, lo cual llevaría a cambiar los modelos más fundamentales que se tienen para describir el universo; lo cual implicaría la creación de nuevas teorías.
