- El sistema busca que las personas invidentes puedan usar la audición para saber cuándo cruzar la calle.
Como proceso de la renovación y actualización de la red semafórica de la ciudad, el Instituto de Movilidad de Pereira adelanta la instalación de semáforos peatonales acústicos para personas invidentes o personas con baja visión que ayudan cuidar la vida de estos actores viales y cruzar de una forma segura una calle.
Esta acción se logra a través de la emisión de dos sonidos específicos para avisar cuando el semáforo se pone en verde con un sonido de ritmo rápido y por el contrario cuando se pone en color rojo el sistema sonoro es más pausado.
Este sistema inteligente, se encuentra sincronizado para que emita la señal sonora en un horario de lunes a domingo de 7:00 a.m. a 7:00 p.m. y desde las 7:00 p.m. a 7:00 a.m. solo queda dando señal luminosa con la intención de no afectar las horas de descanso de los habitantes del sector.
Actualmente se encuentran instalados un total de 48 semáforos accesibles con en diferentes intersecciones de la ciudad, con estas acciones además de prevenir la siniestralidad vial de esta población, se busca un tema de inclusión y que las personas puedan ser independientes cuando tienen la necesidad de cruzar una calle.
