Alrededor de 2.500 personas diarias se movilizaban desde y hacia El Eje Cafetero con la entidad.
Los viajeros de la aerolínea Viva Air han resultado muy afectados en todo el país por la suspensión de vuelos de esta compañía. El Eje Cafetero, al ser el segundo destino turístico más visitado en Colombia, también empieza a sentir el remezón de la situación.
Y es que esta aerolínea de bajo costo tenía frecuencias desde y hacia los aeropuertos Matecaña de Pereira y El Edén de Armenia, en los que movía a alrededor de 2.500 pasajeros diarios. El mayor flujo de pasajeros era desde y hacia Pereira, donde tenía alrededor de 38 rutas semanales.
Desde El Matecaña volaba hacia Cartagena, San Marta, Bogotá y Rionegro (Antioquia), desde donde hacía las conexiones internacionales. Además de dos charter para San Andrés y La Guajira. Mientras que desde El Edén eran seis frecuencias semanales con la ruta Armenia – Medellín – Armenia. Desde agosto del año pasado suspendió vuelos desde Armenia hacia Cartagena y San Andrés.
El presidente ejecutivo de la Cámara de Comercio de Armenia, Rodrigo Estrada Revéiz, les solicitó a los Ministerios de Comercio y Transporte que realicen acompañamiento a la crisis generada por la suspensión de vuelos.
“Solicitamos a la Aeronáutica su ayuda y rápido acompañamiento. Empresas como Avianca, Latam y Satena están ayudando con cupos para poder trasladar a los viajeros que tienen tiquetes de Viva, pero lo fundamental es cómo lograr que una empresa de estas no desaparezca y pueda seguir haciendo operaciones”, señaló.
Estrada dijo que la preocupación se genera por la afectación en el sector turístico, pues las agencias de viajes han vendido sus paquetes con esta aerolínea como medio de transporte y por ende muchas personas verán afectados sus viajes.
“Como entidad que respalda al sector empresarial, nos unimos al llamado de gremios como Anato que ha solicitado a la Aeronáutica y a las diferentes entidades nacionales que se haga un seguimiento a fondo para que no vuelva a suceder el tema”, apuntó el presidente de la Cámara de Comercio.
Por su parte el director de la Asociación Hotelera y Turística de Colombia (Cotelco) en Quindío, Eduardo Mejía, dijo que el panorama es de incertidumbre.
“Es preocupante que las aerolíneas de un momento a otro decidan suspender y no piensen el perjuicio que causan. Cuántas personas quedaron varadas, la congestión en los aeropuertos es muy grande. Esto está entorpeciendo la operación de las demás aerolíneas, agencias de viajes y todo el gremio se está viendo impactado”, dijo Mejía.
En Risaralda la preocupación es latente, pues ya el sector turístico evidencia las afectaciones. De acuerdo con la secretaria de Desarrollo Económico y Competitividad del departamento, Yessica María Vargas, esta suspensión ha generado un grave traumatismo.
“Risaralda es el tercer departamento más competitivo en materia turística del país y en este logro las operaciones aéreas del Matecaña juegan un papel fundamental. Estamos seguros de que la Gobernación, la Alcaldía de Pereira y la Gerencia del aeródromo continuarán en la búsqueda de nuevas aerolíneas que ofrezcan más rutas aéreas para todos los habitantes del Eje Cafetero, pero no podemos desconocer que la situación de Viva Air genera y generará muchas afectaciones para la conectividad y el turismo”, apuntó.
Y es que, según los datos entregados por Francisco Valencia, Gerente del Aeropuerto Matecaña, Viva Air movía a alrededor del 37 por ciento de los pasajeros de esta terminal aérea, que -en su mayoría- eran destino vacaciones o de playa.
“Para el aeropuerto es difícil saber cuál es la actividad que por la que se movilizan los viajeros, pero por lo que nosotros analizamos y veíamos a diario, la mayoría lo hacía por turismo. Los sombreros, la ropa ligera y las bermudas eran un indicador. Las personas que viajan por negocios o similares usualmente lo hacían por otro tipo de aerolínea, así que creemos que ese será el renglón más afectado”, apuntó Valencia.
Viva Air operaba además vuelos chárteres para operadores de viaje como On Vacation.
Dadas las situaciones que se han presentado en los últimos días, Valencia entregó unas recomendaciones a quienes deben volar y tienen vuelos comprados con esta aerolínea. Resaltado que en el aeropuerto no se tiene capacidad ni legitimidad para apoyar a los viajeros en esta contingencia.
“El llamado es a que se siga teniendo la paciencia que se ha dado hasta ahora; también que se vaya al aeropuerto con suficiente tiempo de anticipación. Así mismo, que los pasajeros descarguen el total de la información de la reserva, con nombres y números de cédula, pues si llegan solo con el número y código las otras aerolíneas no les están pudiendo ayudar”, agregó el gerente del Matecaña.
Además, se pidió a la comunidad no asistir al aeropuerto para solucionar situaciones de tiquetes posteriores, pues ahora se encuentran solucionando las dificultades de pasajeros retrasados y los de viaje diario, no a futuro.
Entre tanto, en Caldas están expectantes del impacto que puedan sufrir, pues en su capital nunca ha operado esta aerolínea y la mayor parte de los turistas llegan por vías terrestres.
