El PAE es considerado un programa de acceso y permanencia educativa cofinanciado por el Ministerio de Educación Nacional.
Buscando aumentar la cobertura del Programa de Alimentación Escolar PAE, que en la actualidad beneficia a 28.100 estudiantes de las instituciones educativas de los 12 municipios no certificados, la Gobernación de Risaralda por intermedio de la Secretaría de Educación Departamental se encuentra adelantando gestiones ante el Ministerio de Educación Nacional y realizando un proceso de focalización en compañía de los directivos docentes de los establecimientos educativos.
Leonardo Gómez Franco, secretario de educación de Risaralda señaló: “le estamos solicitando al Gobierno Nacional mayores recursos para el PAE, donde la Gobernación hace una inversión superior a los $10 mil millones de recursos propios, que se suman a los enviados por el Ministerio de Educación Nacional, con el fin de garantizar el funcionamiento del Programa durante todo el año escolar”.
Gómez Franco añadió que el PAE, en lo correspondiente a los 12 municipios no certificados en educación a cargo de la Gobernación, viene operando por tercer año consecutivo desde el primer día del calendario lectivo escolar.
Así mismo recordó que la focalización de los estudiantes que son beneficiarios del Programa es responsabilidad de cada institución educativa y de este proceso depende en gran medida su aumento en cupos y el seguimiento para una efectiva ejecución financiera.
