En Colombia, los días feriados están regulados por la Ley 51 de 1983. La también conocida como Ley Emiliani establece que diez de los 18 días festivos en el país se trasladen al lunes siguiente en el calendario si su fecha original cae entre los días martes y domingo.
Dicha normativa también determina que todos los trabajadores, sean del sector público o privado, tienen derecho al descanso remunerado en los festivos, sean de carácter religioso o civil.
Ahora bien, el calendario muestra que el 2024 (año bisiesto) contará con 18 festivos que se distribuirán de la siguiente manera: 11 caerán un lunes, tres un miércoles, uno un sábado, uno un domingo y el Jueves Santo y el Viernes Santo.
