Las pruebas técnicas con las que se sustentó la investigación fueron practicadas en Barranquilla, Bogotá, Cali, Cartagena, Manizales, Medellín y Pereira durante el año 2015 y 2016, y realizadas por la firma NAE, consultores españoles en temas de Telecomunicaciones.
“Luego de efectuar mediciones técnicas en las principales ciudades del país, sobre la prestación del servicio de Internet Banda Ancha, la Superintendencia de Industria y Comercio encontró que los usuarios solo disfrutaban, en algunos casos, de la mitad de la velocidad de navegación ofrecida si se conectaban a través de la red WiFi. Es decir, si un usuario tenía contratado un plan de 20 megabytes por segundo, en realidad podría solo recibir 10 megabytes por segundo cuando utilizaba el servicio conectado a través de WiFi, mientras que si se conectaban con cable tradicional a Internet Hogar sí recibían el servicio completo ofrecido”, informó la Superintendencia.
