En el marco del Congreso Latinoamericano de Telecomunicaciones (CLT 2017), el ministro de Tecnologías de la Información y las Comunicaciones, David Luna, dio a conocer los principales avances de la estrategia que lidera este ministerio para llevar a Colombia hacia una Economía Digital.
El ministro destacó que, “desde el MinTIC conectamos al país y ahora lo estamos llevando hacia una Economía Digital. Lo que queremos es democratizar el acceso a las tecnologías digitales emergentes para transformar los procesos productivos y creativos de todos los sectores”.
Así mismo, Luna anunció que en el marco de la estrategia para la Economía Digital, se tomó la decisión de ajustar la definición regulatoria de banda ancha, lo que permitirá que a partir del 1 de enero de 2019 solo puedan comercializarse en Colombia las conexiones superiores a 25 megabits por segundo.
En adición, y de acuerdo con información de la Comisión de Regulación de Comunicaciones (CRC), las conexiones de más de 50 megabits por segundo van a ser denominadas como Ultra Banda Ancha. Esto quiere decir que las conexiones que quieran vender los operadores como Banda Ancha tendrán que ser de mínimo 25 megabits por segundo.

“Estas velocidades son las que permiten que funcione el streaming de servicios, la prestación efectiva de la computación en la nube, la computación cognitiva, la analítica de datos, entre otras tecnologías, y son las que nos conectan con los grandes centros de computación para la inteligencia artificial. En definitiva, con este cambio mejoramos la velocidad del internet en el país”, aseguró Luna.
