A los habitantes de las áreas urbanas de tres municipios del departamento de Risaralda llegarán seis nuevas zonas digitales de conectividad gratuita a internet vía wifi, las cuales estarán ubicadas en lugares públicos de gran afluencia como parques principales o plazas.
El anuncio para el departamento de Risaralda fue hecho este jueves por la ministra de las TIC, Karen Abudinen, desde la vereda El Carmelo en el municipio de Albán (Nariño), donde informó que en total serán 250 nuevas zonas digitales urbanas las que serán instaladas en 132 municipios de 25 departamentos, llegando así a 1.090 en todo el país.
“De estas 250 nuevas zonas digitales urbanas instalaremos seis en tres municipios de Risaralda en los próximos días, como parte del compromiso del Gobierno del presidente Iván Duque con el cierre de la brecha digital en todo el departamento”, manifestó Abudinen.
La ministra de las TIC confirmó que los municipios risaraldenses beneficiados con este anuncio del Gobierno nacional son Belén de Umbría, Quinchía y Santuario.
Estas nuevas 250 zonas digitales urbanas contarán con un área de cobertura de hasta 7.800 metros 2 y estarán ubicadas en áreas de mayor afluencia de público como plazas y parque principales. La
velocidad para descargar y subir contenido será de 30 Mbps (megabits por segundo), ofreciendo de esta manera una mejor experiencia de navegación al ciudadano.
Así mismo, la funcionaria anunció que la totalidad de las zonas digitales urbanas, incluyendo las nuevas anunciadas, aumentarán de una a seis horas el tiempo permitido de conexión por usuario al día, lo que significa mayores posibilidades de utilización para el estudio virtual, la capacitación de talleres en formación, telemedicina, el comercio electrónico, entre otros.
“En todas las zonas digitales urbanas que hemos activado hasta el momento, incluidas las que hoy estamos anunciando, tendrán seis horas continuas de conectividad. Esto permitirá que nuestros niños, niñas y jóvenes tengan más tiempo para estudiar de manera virtual y que nuestros emprendedores y empresarios tengan más oportunidades de investigar u ofrecer sus productos por internet y reactivar la economía local”, dijo la ministra.
En total son 1.090 zonas digitales urbanas las que aumentarán el tiempo de prestación del servicio de internet gratuito al día por usuario. Después de este tiempo, los ciudadanos podrán acceder al plan “WiFi Premium” el cual cuenta con tarifas económicas para continuar navegando, como parte de la estrategia de sostenibilidad de esta fase del proyecto.
Finalmente, la ministra Abudinen dijo que, de esta forma, la cifra nacional de zonas digitales urbanas y rurales aumentó a 2.640, estando actualmente en funcionamiento 2.350 para que colombianos y turistas puedan acceder a internet gratuito vía wifi los siete días de la semana desde su smartphone, tableta o computador portátil.
Así se conectan los colombianos con las zonas digitales
En promedio, 86.890 personas por día se conectan a Internet a través de las 2.350 zonas digitales, lo que significa que, al día, en promedio, 37 personas utilizan el servicio de estos puntos de conectividad, con más frecuencia los martes y los miércoles.
Al mes se conectan en promedio 64.730 mujeres (2.157 por día); 78.950 hombres por mes (2.631 por día) y 22.370 estudiantes por mes (745 por día). Estas zonas digitales se utilizan en su mayoría para entretenimiento y búsquedas:
• Google: más de 68 millones de visitas por mes desde las zonas digitales.
• Facebook: más de 32 millones de visitas por mes desde las zonas digitales.
También se han registrado, en promedio mes, más de 74.000 visitas a páginas de educación, como las de la Universidad Nacional Abierta y a Distancia, El Sena, Colombia Aprende, Universidad de Pamplona, Universidad de Magdalena, entre otros.
