El ministro de Transporte, Guillermo Reyes, anunció que antes de que termine abril Viva Air podría volver a operar en Colombia gracias a la integración con Avianca.
“Se resolverá por parte de la Aeronáutica Civil la integración, que por el camino que va, es muy probable que antes de que termine este mes la aerolínea vuelva a surcar los cielos colombianos”, dijo el jefe de la cartera. Lo mismo ocurriría con Ultra Air gracias a un proceso de capitalización en el que avanza la compañía. También este mes podría tener a los aviones operando.
¿Qué pasó con Viva Air y Ultra?
Cabe mencionar que ambas aerolíneas de bajo costo sorpresivamente suspendieron sus operaciones, generando una importante crisis aérea que dejó a miles de pasajeros varados en aeropuertos nacionales e internacionales.
En el caso de Viva, a finales de febrero la aerolínea canceló vuelos y desde el Ministerio de Transporte hasta la Aeronáutica Civil intervinieron para intentar dar soluciones a los afectados. Por su parte Ultra, hizo lo mismo, y el presidente de la República puso a disposición su avión presidencial para transportar a los afectados. Pero los efectos de las decisiones de dichas empresas trascendieron el mercado aéreo y tuvieron consecuencias en el turístico. La pasada Semana Santa ha sido calificada por hoteleros y comerciantes como la peor en siete años.
A ambas aerolíneas se le abrieron investigaciones por su proceder; sin embargo, muchas preguntas quedan sobre la mesa tras conocerse que volverían a operar: ¿qué pasará con las personas que aún no reciben respuesta por sus vuelos?, ¿cómo será la operación de Viva tras la integración?, y en el caso de Ultra, ¿tiene la capacidad para seguir operando a largo plazo o puede volver a una crisis de tal magnitud?
Respuestas que aún no es posible dar porque, si bien es cierto que el sector aéreo está en crisis por diferentes factores como el alza de combustibles y las tasas de interés e inflación altas, una de las claves para que el funcionamiento de estas dos compañías pueda normalizarse es mejorar la confianza en los usuarios. Algo que se perdió después de la masiva venta de tiquetes, aun cuando se sabía que no tenían recursos para continuar operando.
