FIFA confirma suspensión de Eliminatorias Sudamericanas

  • La FIFA anunció la suspensión del inicio de las eliminatorias sudamericanas al Mundial de Qatar 2022 y los juegos de la Copa Libertadores de la próxima semana, a raíz de la propagación del Coronavirus.

Mediante un comunicado la FIFA explicó que, tras la solicitud de la Conmebol, los partidos de las clasificatorias a disputarse entre 27 y 31 de marzo han sido aplazados y su fecha será discutida próximamente.

De igual forma, el máximo ente regulador del fútbol sudamericano informó que los juegos de Libertadores programados entre los días 15 y 21 de marzo también serán suspendidos y sufrirán modificaciones.

Una de las alternativas que se maneja para la Eliminatoria es que la primera fecha sea reprogramada para septiembre. Entretanto, con el retraso de la primera fase de la Copa Libertadores, también se vería afectada la segunda fase de la Copa Sudamericana, establecida para mediados y finales de mayo.
