El presidente Gustavo Petro anunció en la tarde de hoy que los fondos del presupuesto guardado en la banca pasarían al Banco Agrario para soportar créditos a tasas subsidiarias.
Este anuncio estuvo acompañado con que ahora el banco recibirá el nombre de Banco Agrario y Popular, y según el mandatario, esperan que este tenga una capacidad de créditos mayor a la que tiene Grupo Aval hasta ahora.
El objetivo de cambiar el nombre de la entidad es que se convierta y se conozca como el banco más grande del país, misma razón por la que se hace la comparación con Grupo Aval.
Además, en ese momento de su discurso, lanzó un comentario frente al caso Odebrecht, en donde dijo que esos créditos no irán a los ‘Odebrecht del país’.
Esto, luego del caso de corrupción que volvió a la luz este mes, en el que se concluyó que el expresidente de Corficolombiana sobornó a funcionarios del Gobierno para obtener una extensión de un contrato, por lo que Grupo Aval tendrá que pagar US$40 millones.
Luego, el mandatario añadió que, “aquí se han inventado dos palabras: economía informal y economía formal. Dentro del discurso de la gente que ha gobernado Colombia, lo que importaba era la economía formal. Nosotros dejamos de hablar de informales, la gente no se divide entre formales e informales, la gente es trabajadora, punto”.
Si bien, el mandatario anunció estos cambios, todavía se desconoce cuándo entrarán en vigencia y de qué forma se hará esta movida para que no se altere el funcionamiento de la entidad.
