Con la presencia del secretario de Gobierno de Risaralda, Israel Londoño en el Consejo de Seguridad interdepartamental realizado en el municipio de Viterbo, Caldas, se recalcó la labor que vienen haciendo el Ejército y la Policía Nacional en el occidente risaraldense y los municipios que limitan con el departamento vecino.
De acuerdo a las inquietudes que presentaron los alcaldes de los municipios de Viterbo, Belalcázar, Riosucio, Anserma, San José y Risaralda en Caldas sobre la presencia de grupos armados organizados en la región, que pudieran afectar la seguridad de la zona, los comandantes de Policía, del Batallón de Artillería de Campaña N.°8 San Mateo y el oficial de operaciones del Batallón Ayacucho fueron enfáticos en el refuerzo que se hizo de las tropas y del trabajo en equipo para mantener al Eje Cafetero como un territorio seguro.
Así mismo el secretario de Gobierno de Caldas, Martín Augusto Durán Céspedes agradeció el compromiso y la presencia constante de los hombres de la Octava Brigada del Ejército Nacional y de la Policía, además de la inmediatez de la Gobernación de Risaralda para acudir a este tipo de reuniones.
Por su parte el secretario de Gobierno de Risaralda, Israel Londoño expresó que: “El compromiso es brindar seguridad, desvirtuar cualquier tipo de comentario sobre la presencia de diferentes grupos armados organizados no, aquí hay una fuerza pública permanente que está respondiendo por la seguridad y honra de nuestros ciudadanos y esperamos continuar así de cara a las elecciones de octubre y el resto del año”.
De esta forma se acordó que el próximo jueves 19 de octubre, se llevará a cabo otro consejo de seguridad interdepartamental, con la presencia de los alcaldes de Guática, Belén de Umbría, Mistrató, Pueblo Rico, La Virginia, Apía, Quinchía y Santuario, con el objetivo de mantener informados de las labores de las autoridades de cada departamento y llevar a fin una jornada electoral tranquila.
“Le decimos a la población que pueden estar tranquilos, tenemos un Ejército comprometido, los Gaula de Ejército y Policía están comprometidos en evitar la extorsión y el secuestro, tenemos organismos como Migración Colombia y UNP articulando los esfuerzos ‘para mejorar la percepción de seguridad de dos departamentos turísticos y tranquilos”, puntualizó Londoño.
