A media que transcurría la ceremonia, los encargados del evento fueron filtrando los puestos del décimo al primer lugar. La primera en aparecer fue Rachel Daly, futbolista del Aston Villa y la selección inglesa.
Tras esto, el turno fue para la exjugadora del Deportivo Cali. “¡Clasificada en el noveno lugar para el Balón de Oro femenino 2023! Linda Caicedo, Colombia, Real Madrid”, publicó la cuenta oficial de la competición en redes sociales.
En este 2023, Caicedo Alegría selló su pase al Real Madrid. Para el mes de febrebro, la futbolista tenía ofertas de los equipos más importantes del mundo en la rama femenina (incluído el FC Barcelona), pero se decantó por el cuadro merengue. Debutó el 4 de marzo frente al Alhama y apenas cinco días después marcó su primer tanto como madridista.
Con la Selección Colombia disputó el Mundial Femenino de Australia y Nueva Zelanda, certamen en el que marcó dos goles, uno de ellos, frente a Alemania, fue el que la llevó a estar también nominada al Premio Puskás (galardón dado por FIFA a la mejor anotación del año).
