El Instituto Nacional de Salud (INS) reportó, con corte al 10 de diciembre a las 4:30 de la tarde, 290 personas lesionadas con pólvora, lo que significa un aumento de 14 casos en comparación con la temporada 2022-2023.
El reporte, que se mide del 1 de diciembre de 2023 al 13 de enero de 2024, evidencia dos muertes, mientras que en ese mismo periodo, 2022-2023, no se registró ninguna.
Los mayores de 18 años son la población que registra más reportes de lesionados con pólvora, presentando también un incremento debido a que se han registrado 190 casos, mientras que en el periodo pasado fueron 165.
En lo que respecta a los menores de 18 años se evidencia una variación negativa de 9,9 por ciento, ya que este año se han presentado 100 casos, mientras que el periodo pasado, 111.
“Para disfrutar de estas fiestas se debe evitar el uso de pólvora, mantener a los menores de edad lejos de sus residuos y no adquirir alcohol en sitios no autorizados”, sugieren desde el INS.
Precisamente, el reporte del Instituto Nacional de Salud indica que los casos de quemados en mayores de 18 años bajo los efectos del alcohol está en 65, mientras que el año pasado se registraron 58 casos.
Los departamentos en donde se evidencian más casos son Antioquia (36), Bogotá (31), Valle del Cauca (17), Cauca (16), Cundinamarca (16), Boyacá (13), Atlántico (10), Magdalena (15), Boyacá (14) y Caldas (13).
En cuanto al tipo de artefacto pirotécnico que origina las lesiones, el tote es el mayor causante con 27,4 por ciento. Le sigue la categoría ‘otros’, con 21,1 por ciento; voladores (16,8 por ciento), volcanes (11,9 por ciento) y cohetes (8,4 por ciento), entre otros.
Sobre casos puntuales, en Medellín un niño de 11 años sufrió quemaduras en la cara mientras observaba voladores. En Apartadó un bebé de un año resultó con una laceración y quemadura en el rostros mientras miraba luces de bengala. Y en Nechí una niña de nueve años terminó con laceración, contusión y quemadura de primer grado en el pie cuando estaba cerca a un volcán de pólvora. En Amagá un niño de 10 años resultó con quemaduras de primer grado en su mano por la manipulación de voladores.
En Cali, entre tanto, la noche del 7 al 8 de diciembre se registraron 12 casos de lesiones en el departamento durante la celebración de las velitas. Según el informe de la Gobernación, siete casos ocurrieron en Cali, mientras que Calima El Darién, Buga, El Águila, Yumbo y Guacarí registraron un caso por lesión.
