Risaralda cuenta con un total de 202.978 campesinos, de los cuales 105.105 son hombres y 97.873 son mujeres, quienes trabajan diariamente en las 146.489 hectáreas dedicadas al sector agropecuario.
En medio de la celebración del día del campesino, el Gobernador Victor Manuel Tamayo Vargas destacó el trabajo de los risaraldenses que garantizan la seguridad alimentaria del departamento y la región.
“Va a nombre de nuestra gobernación, un saludo cariñoso a todos esos campesinos del departamento de Risaralda que llevamos en el corazón” señaló Tamayo Vargas.
El mandatario de los risaraldenses hizo énfasis en que el sector rural comprende el 24% de la población total del departamento y uno de los logros más significativos de la administración departamental en lo que va corrido del año ha sido la aprobación del Plan Departamental de Extensión Agropecuaria – PDEA.
Por su parte el secretario de Desarrollo Agropecuario, Juan Carlos Toro Castellanos, reconoció la labor de los campesinos como héroes de capa y sombrero.
“Hoy más que nunca estamos seguros que nuestros agricultores son generadores de esperanza, pues nuestra alimentación depende del arduo trabajo de ustedes, nuestros campesinos.”
