Según la Secretaría de Salud de Pereira, el paciente es un adulto y se encuentra aislado. El contagio se pudo haber dado por contacto con viajeros.
Este viernes se reportó un nuevo caso de la viruela del mono en el país. Se trata de un paciente, mayor de edad, que reside en Pereira (Risaralda) y se habría contagiado por contacto con un viajero.
Según la Secretaría de Salud municipal, la persona se encuentra aislada y con evolución clínica estable.
“Dentro de las medidas de la vigilancia epidemiológica se define el rastreo de sus contactos estrechos, los cuales ya fueron localizados y se encuentran en seguimiento durante 21 días, con la novedad que, hasta el momento, ninguno de ellos presenta síntomas”, explicó Ángela María Rincón, secretaria (e) de Salud Pública y Seguridad Social de Pereira.
Con este contagio los casos de la viruela símica en Colombia suben a 12, 10 fueron detectados en Bogotá y otro en Cundinamarca.
El pasado 26 de julio el Comité Epidemiológico del Ministerio de Salud decidió elevar de moderado a alto el riesgo de propagación de esta enfermedad en el territorio nacional.
La Organización Mundial de Salud (OMS) contabiliza más de 18.000 casos de viruela del mono detectados en 78 países desde mayo, 70 % de ellos en Europa.
